Block all browser pop-ups using the PopUpOff extension
PopUpOff stands out as a popular browser extension compatible with Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Arc, and even the non-Chromium browser Firefox. This extension proactively conceals newsletter and cookie pop-ups, preventing them from appearing.
Offering flexibility, PopUpOff features three distinct modes that can be configured for each site. Dormant mode remains inactive, ideal for sites you trust and wish to keep unaltered. Moderate mode eliminates bothersome newsletter prompts while retaining other elements. Aggressive mode is designed for websites with multiple pop-ups, addressing scenarios like newsletter sign-ups, cookie consents, or special promotions.
By default, PopUpOff initiates in Dormant mode. You have the flexibility to activate the extension on a per-site basis or apply it universally to all new sites. If you wish to suppress pop-ups specifically on local news sites, simply right-click on the site, access the PopUpOff extension, and opt for either the Moderate or Aggressive mode, depending on the severity of the pop-ups. Alternatively, navigate to the extension, access Settings, and, under Basic settings, set Moderate as the default mode for all websites. This ensures that large pop-ups won’t appear when opening new sites. If necessary, you can switch to Aggressive mode for a specific site using the right-click menu.
