Vacuuming tiny spaces is hard. This hack is easy.No matter how diligent you are, there are always overlooked cleaning tasks around the house, especially the seemingly inconsequential and challenging ones. Consider, for instance, the track where your sliding door operates. I’m here to assure you that you can tackle this often neglected area easily. Here’s how to go about it.

Use a toilet paper roll to clean your door tracks

Vacuum cleaners are essential and effective, but they have limitations, particularly when it comes to cleaning confined spaces. Even with a tapered attachment, you might find it challenging to reach the smallest nooks. And as for those brush attachments, they often just displace dirt and compromise suction. For cleaning narrow areas like the tracks where your doors slide, a toilet paper roll is truly indispensable.

Attach it to the end of your vacuum, just like any other accessory, as demonstrated in this Instagram Reel by A Clean Bee. When I came across this video, I was skeptical, given that many viral cleaning hacks turn out to be ineffective, but I decided to give it a shot nonetheless. If you decide to try it, learn from my initial mistake: I didn’t have an available toilet paper roll. Call me peculiar, but I discard them when I run out. Consequently, I had to wait a few days for one to become available because, while I was eager to try the trick, I wasn’t willing to unravel a bunch of toilet paper for it. If you’re keen to attempt this, make it a point now to save your next cardboard roll, so you’re not scrambling for one when the need arises.

This method is effective due to the flexible nature of the tip of the roll. You can compress it to fit into any tight spot, while the end connected to the vacuum remains large enough to sustain the machine’s suction.

How to use the toiler paper roll to clean small spaces

I proceeded to vacuum the grimy track of the patio door. It was effortlessly done—no additional steps required. The method proved effective, efficient, and swift. Despite the folded-up modification, the suction remained excellent, and the end of the roll seamlessly navigated through all sections of the track, effortlessly lifting up all the dirt.

Following that, a brief wipe-down using vinegar and water completed the task, resulting in the track appearing… perhaps not brand new, but significantly improved. This is a highly recommended hack without any reservations, as it eliminates the need for sweeping, wrestling with a vacuum, and laboring over those small, hard-to-reach spots.
