Even without a right-click button, it can still be done.

Regardless of the Mac model you own or whether you’re using a Magic Mouse or trackpad, having no dedicated right-click button can be perplexing, especially for those new to the Mac platform. Truth be told, even some long-time Mac users find it confusing. Fortunately, there are several methods to right-click on a Mac, allowing you to choose the one that aligns best with your workflow:

Click with two fingers (trackpad)

The most straightforward method to initiate a right-click on your Mac is to tap or click the trackpad with two fingers (assuming Tap to click is enabled), triggering the appearance of the right-click context menu.

Click right side (Magic Mouse)

For Magic Mouse users, the default right-click action involves clicking the right side of the top portion of the mouse. Despite the mouse appearing as a single button, envisioning the right side as having its own button helps make this process clear.

If you’d prefer to make the left side the right-click option, you can go to System Settings > Mouse, then, next to Secondary click, choose Click Left Side.

A quick keyboard shortcut to right-click

If pressing the trackpad with two fingers simultaneously feels challenging, an alternative is to hold down the Control key on your Mac’s keyboard and then click using the trackpad or a mouse. This used to be Apple’s primary method for right-clicking in the past.

Click a corner of your trackpad

Alternatively, you have the option to designate one of the bottom corners of the trackpad as a dedicated right-click zone. To do this, navigate to System Settings > Trackpad, and choose the drop-down menu next to Secondary click. Opt for Click in the bottom-right corner or Click in the bottom-left corner. Subsequently, you can right-click on your Mac by clicking on either of these trackpad corners.

Three-finger right-click method

A lot of us are accustomed to employing the two-finger scroll gesture on the Mac, and this right-click approach seamlessly aligns with that familiarity. Utilize two fingers on the trackpad, employing your thumb to click on the trackpad. While it’s a gesture akin to the two-finger click, you might discover that using your thumb is more convenient in specific situations.

Use a mouse

For a genuine right-click experience, you can opt for a mouse equipped with two or more buttons to use with your Mac. There’s typically no need for adjustments or configurations; in most instances, the right button on the mouse will function as a right-click on the Mac. I am one of them, share us your experience in below comment box 🙂
