Securing suitable accommodation in Pattaya can be a mixed experience.
In general, more affordable lodging options are prevalent in Jomtien, while Pratamnak and Nakluea, though offering some respectable guesthouses, cater more to a discerning clientele. The central area is predominantly occupied by sex tourists and party enthusiasts, often characterized by considerable noise. Elegant and breezy hotels, some with private beaches, gather in the southern parts of the city. If Pattaya itself doesn’t hold much appeal for you, this is an excellent choice, especially as some of the most atmospheric restaurants in Pattaya are situated along the coast in Na Jomtien.
Budget
There are several decent hostels in the city, top choice here probably is Sleep Cafe Hostel close to the Northern bus station in Pattaya North Road. It has good reviews from travellers and offers bunk beds in well-kept dorms (both mixed and ladies only). It is probably great choice if you have to make a quick stop for a night and then to hop onto a bus to next destination, otherwise the location is not very convenient. Beds are from THB370.
To top up a bit more (from THB450) you can get a private room with ensuite bathroom in rather characterless guesthouses in Jomtien between Soi Wat Boon and Chayapruek (just walk along the sea and peep into sois heading from sea).
Ambassador City Jomtien has several buildings, rooms priced from THB1000 (Inn Wing & Garden Wing). It is far from the hustle and bustle of the city, but the beach view is spectacular and you have full access to all hotel facilities, including swimming pools and kids playground. The key point, to view Sunsets from the main building.
Near to mid-range category, our definite pick here is BB House in Dong Tan Beach. From THB1200 you get half of a wooden chalet with floor-to-ceiling glass wall. Only 12 houses around a swimming pool shadowed by flowering frangipani trees, and the beach is 30m away! The owners also run a great restaurant which is a perfect spot for breakfast (from THB160) and which sees some live music on a couple of evenings during the week.
Moderate-Priced
Mid-sized boutique hotels many of which around Pratamnak hill. Cabbage & Condoms are more of a top end with their THB3500+ rates, but special packages and promotions often found online put it in the mid-range category. There is a namesake – and very good! – restaurant there and the whole territory of the hotel is covered with ‘jungle’.
Cosy Beach View Hotel which has several buildings – request for a room in the newer one. Room range around THB2,500. The hotel has a convenient access to one of few swimmable beaches within Pattaya.
Welcome Jomtien, Jomtien Garden Hotel & Resort, Sea Breeze Hotel – the like all offering similar rooms at rates between THB1500-THB2000. The latter is probably the best choice of the bunch. Jomtien beach is separated from them by the road and there are bunch of affordable restaurants around.
If you need to more central location, Camelot (THB1500) which has a very convenient location close to Walking Street but not exactly in the epicentre of its chaos.
In the north, Bella Villa Metro, Best Villa, Loma Resort or Pattaya Garden are the cheapest resort-like options in the district (THB2000).
Na Jomtien’s Botany Beach remains a well-kept secret for many. It has nothing to envy to more expensive neighbours – Pinnacle Grand Jomtien ot Dor Shada Resort, but is slightly lower (from THB3000). It also has its own beach and nice garden.
High-End Priced
Hilton overlooking Pattaya Bay is a best choice in the top end category. The hotel occupies the upper floors of the building housing the largest shopping mall in the city – Central Festival Pattaya Beach – plus best dining options with a view, so shopping and dining are accessible.
A couple of resorts in Jomtien, could help to enhance your Thai experience by staying in authentic Thai villas. These are Sugar Hut and Rabbit Resort, both about THB5000. If this is your style, Avalon Beach Resort in Dong Tan Beach also has bungalows alongside with the main (THB4000).
Must shared – Royal Cliff Hotels Group, dominates a promontory in Pratamnak Hill. Some of the rooms have been renovated recently and look good. Infinity and jacuzzi pools, gyms, tennis courts, cafes and several great restaurants – you do not really go outside to splurge! From THB4500.
