A top pick family-friendly holiday destination in Asia.
Almost 80% of the world’s countries are allowed to travel to Singapore for 30 days and some even 90 days without a visa at all.
Nationals of the countries different from those which do not need a visa to Singapore, divide into two categories. These categories are: countries whose citizens can apply for electronic visa and those countries whose citizens should have visa vignette that is placed in one’s passport.
Entry requirements
Similar to most countries, the entry requirements for Singapore are fairly standard. Visitors must possess a passport valid for more than 6 months from the date of departure, hold a return or onward ticket, demonstrate sufficient funds, and possess entry documents and visas (if necessary) for their subsequent destination. If a visa is required, visitors must obtain one for Singapore, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate may also be necessary.
30-day visa exemption
With effect from 9 February 2024, holders of ordinary passports issued by the People’s Republic of China will be exempted from visa requirements for a stay of up to 30 days in Singapore.
90-day visa exemption
Citizen of European, Australia, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States are permitted to stay in Singapore without any visa for as long as 90 days. No question – pack your luggage and go!
E-visas
Applying for electronic visas, also known as online visas, can be done through the official website of the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore. This visa option is available to citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, North Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan who hold a regular passport. Typically, the visa is processed within one working day, and approved applicants can travel by presenting a printout of the E-visa. Singapore Government had just announced China citizen to have 30-day visa exemption, effective from early 2024.
Single Journey visas
While there are no official restrictions on countries accessing Singapore, certain nations must obtain a visa in advance.
The application process can be completed through a local contact in Singapore, the nearest Singaporean diplomatic mission, or an authorized visa agent located outside Singapore. Typically, these visas take approximately 5 to 7 working days to be issued, with the visa vignette attached within the applicant’s passport.
Countries that fall under this requirement include Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and Yemen.
All visa applications carry a processing fee of SGD30, and Authorized Visa Agents may impose an additional service fee on top of the processing fee. Fees are collected at the time of visa application and are non-refundable.
For countries not listed above, a stay of up to 30 days in Singapore is permitted without the need for a visa.
Visa extensions
If traveller desires to extend stay in Singapore, they have option to request an extension of short-term social visit pass. This can apply through online application or by visiting the Visitor Services Centre located on the 4th floor of the ICA Building on Kallang Road, near Lavender MRT station.
Each application is evaluated on an individual basis, and an additional 89 days from the entry date into Singapore may be granted. It’s important to note that applicants cannot reapply if they have already received an extension of stay during the same trip. Also, applicants should be aware that their current social visit pass must have a remaining validity of no more than 2 days (excluding weekends and public holidays).
